Regarding the March 26th letter suggesting an athiest holiday, I beg the writer to consider the basis of the word 'holiday.' It is 'holy day.' The removal of prayer in public schools, while appropriate, is not much to celebrate. If you are thrilled by it, you might quietly recognize it. Ours is a Judeo-Christian country, out of tradition. I don't see harm in leaving God in the pledge, nor should anyone be chastised if he wishes not to participate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
