Friday Photo: The Gates

I spent some years working for an NYC non-profit organization, shipping art prints.  It was a fun job and it connected me to many exotic people with fantastic names.  Most of the prints were of works by Christo and Jeanne-Claude, environmental artists.  I don't recall having liked one print particularly more than the others, but they were all pretty fantastic because they depicted works which were all of grand scale.


They've wrapped entire bridges, buildings, and islands.  This particular image was shot by Wolfgang Volz during their latest installment, The Gates (2005), in New York's Central Park.

Friday Photo: L-O-V-E

Something that I noticed when watching 'This Is It' -

I imagine that everyone working on Michael Jackson's farewell tour was ecstatic.  For all of them, a dream come true.   Michael, world's best dancer.  Michael, a fantastic singer.  Who could do both (exceedingly well) at the same time.  A career superstar.  Michael, the biggest selling artist, perhaps of all time.   These musicians would play Michael's music for Michael as a part of Michael's show. It would have to meet Michael's expectations.

Michael, something of a musical genius and prodigy, would hear the music in his head, capture it, and put out the most fantastic product that millions of people would enjoy.   And what a challenge it would be for these talented people to replicate it to Jackson's liking.  Captured on tape was something that I found quite extraordinary.

When giving criticisms, Michael would pause, explain his discomfort (for an artist, it is an acute physical discomfort.)  He would diagnose the problem,  explain his expectation, and finish with:

"This is for love. L-O-V-E."

Children are so fun to photograph.  They are natural leading ladies and men. Who are your leading ladies and men?
